About us . Fiordland captured out hearts 20 yrs ago as
we searched for a place to build our lodge. And we
found what we were looking for: unspoiled wilderness with
forest clad mountains that are snow capped in
winter, crystal clear rivers, lakes and waterfalls, and
enchanting native bird life.
Not born in NZ . Although we both have New Zealand
Citizenship, Michael is from the USA and I'm from the
UK. We met thirty years ago in the Middle East, Michael
was teaching, he has a Master's degree in English,
and I was working as a nurse. I have a Bachelor of
Science degree and I'm a Registered Nurse.
Overseas travel . Other countries where we've worked:
Tonga, Hong Kong, France, Costa Rica, Argentina,
and spent wonderful holidays in Italy, Greece, Canada,
India, Australia and Mexico. Michael speaks French.
Tourism . Our first tourism business was in
the Florida Keys. Michael operated a fly fishing guide
outfit for
ten years while I worked as a Nursing Adminstrator at
"Fishermen's Hospital". Hospitality was the
direction
we wanted to go and New Zealand the place we chose to
build our guest lodge.
Our Lodge We built Beechwood Lodge in 2001
using enviro-friendly products and as light a "footprint"
as
possible. Our residence is separate within the building
but we are always available if you need anything.
Our service is attentive, not intrusive.
Eco-friendly practices
and
cleaning agents are used
to ensure an allergen free
Healthy House.Open year
